Castalian String Quartet

Presented by Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts

Celebrated for its “powerful individuality of sound” (The Scotsman) and performances “full of poetry, joy, and sorrow” (The Observer), the Castalian String Quartet has quickly risen to prominence as one of the most sophisticated young ensembles today.

The first Hans Keller String Quartet in Residence at the University of Oxford brings depth to every performance, from timeless classics to cutting-edge contemporary works. Their rousing program includes the final quartet ever composed by Haydn, a provocative Janáček piece embodying unrequited love and what’s widely considered to be Beethoven’s own favorite string quartet.
