Choral Director of National Children's Chorus SF Jr. Division

The San Francisco Chapter of the GRAMMY® Award-winning National Children’s Chorus is currently looking to hire a skilled choral conductor to lead an ensemble ages 5–8 within our Junior Division beginning September 2025. 

We are seeking passionate music educators who specialize in early childhood choral instruction particularly with experience in developing healthy vocal production within the head voice.

NOW HIRING: 

Junior Division Associate Conductor 

Pay: $50–$100/hour (around 4 hours per week during the school year)
Schedule: Rehearsals are on Sunday Afternoons from 4:00-5:45pm in addition to some flexible remote responsibilities
Start Date: September 2025

The National Children’s Chorus seeks a skilled conductor to lead an ensemble with students ages 5–8 within its Junior Division. 

Position Summary:

The Associate Conductor plays a vital role in shaping the musical and artistic foundation of the NCC’s Junior Division, guiding young singers on a smooth path facilitating their educational journey as they advance toward the Senior Division ranks. This position requires a conductor who exemplifies artistic excellence with a deep understanding of vocal pedagogy, music theory, and a broad range of musical stylings. The ideal candidate is a skilled musician and an inspiring educator with strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. Collaboration with the Associate Artistic Director and Kodály instructors is central to this role, ensuring a cohesive and developmentally appropriate experience for each individual student. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and lead one rehearsal per week on Sunday afternoons (4:00pm- 5:45pm) during the academic year 
• Conduct two concerts per year (Fall and Spring- dates TBA)
• Adhere to and teach musical standards and concepts as defined by the National Children’s Chorus

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Master’s or Doctorate preferred
• Minimum two years conducting experience
• Previous experience working with children
• Upbeat, creative personality
• High-level verbal and written communication skills
