Praised for “beautiful and quite moving” performances (Nordstjernan Newspaper) and “brilliant”
artistry (San Francisco Classical Voice), mezzo-soprano Leandra Ramm has appeared at
leading venues and with major Bay Area institutions. With San Francisco Symphony,
performances include alto soloist in Bach’s Magnificat under Jane Glover,
Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, and as a soloist
in Ecstasy at SoundBox.
Recent operatic highlights include First Witch in Dido’s Ghost and Dido and
Aeneas with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Third Lady in The Magic Flute with Livermore
Valley Opera, Lapák in The Cunning Little Vixen and Prince Orlofsky in Die
Fledermaus with Pocket Opera, Paggio in Rigoletto with Opera San José. In the 2026 season, she
makes her debut with Opera Modesto as Kuchtík in Rusalka, Jan and the Conscience Trio
in Case Closed with West Edge Opera’s Snapshots, performs Suzy in La Rondine with Pocket
Opera, and a return to San Francisco Opera Chorus for Simon Boccanegra.
A sought-after concert soloist, Ms. Ramm’s recent engagements include alto soloist in
Duruflé’s Requiem with SF City Chorus and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb with San Francisco
Choral Society, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Silicon Valley Philharmonic. She has
also collaborated with Sacramento Baroque Soloists and UC Alumni Chorus at Cal
Performances’ Hertz Hall.
Renowned for her vivid portrayals of pants roles, Ms. Ramm has received acclaim for Anybodys
in West Side Story with Opera San José and the Rooster and Blue Jay in The Cunning Little
Vixen with West Edge Opera. Her work in contemporary opera includes appearances in Lisa
Bielawa’s Vireo and the live piano-vocal premiere of Centuries in the Hours at The Stone.
Ms. Ramm is featured on the Grammy-nominated recording of Ligeti’s Lux Aeterna and the cast
album of Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire’s Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena. She is a
National Finalist in the Women in Opera Division of The American Prize, a recipient of the
Ernst Bacon Memorial Award and Art Song Division honors, and a grant recipient of Opera
America’s Career Blueprints for Singers.
