A Once-in-a-Lifetime Sacred Music Experience.
For the first time, this distinguished ensemble travels from Rome to California on a remarkable journey to share the rich tradition of Roman polyphony—most notably that of the Sistine Chapel Choir and its renowned composers.
Sacred Voices is composed of forty singers drawn from leading Roman and Vatican musical institutions, under the direction of Pontifical Cantor Adriano Caroletti.
The program features a wide-ranging repertoire centered on the composers of the Sistine Chapel Choir, including Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, often called the “prince of music,” as well as Lorenzo Perosi and Domenico Bartolucci, who composed for and directed the Pope’s Choir in the 20th century. Their music has long accompanied the solemn liturgies of the Popes in the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, and continues to represent the most elevated tradition of sacred music in the Catholic Church.
