In 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge, England, a former Army chaplain wrote a Christmas concert to soothe and encourage war-weary England. In the 105 years since, the “Festival of Lessons and Carols” has remained virtually unchanged. This classic concert is still performed and can still be heard every Christmas Eve on BBC radio around the world. Local residents won’t have to wait for Christmas Eve; the concert will be performed at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Healdsburg. The St. Paul’s Choir will be accompanied by pipe-organist Paul Blanchard and clarinet duo Jim Gibboney and Jim McCammon. Admission is free. The church is located at the corner of East and Matheson Streets, one block east of Healdsburg's downtown Plaza.
