Position Overview
The Santa Rosa Children’s Choral Academy seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Artistic Director to lead and inspire young vocalists in a nurturing and musically rich environment. The Artistic Director will be responsible for developing vocal and musical skills, fostering a love for choral music, and guiding singers in both rehearsals and performances.
The Artistic Director will have a strong background in choral music education, with expertise in repertoire selection, vocal pedagogy, and performance preparation.

Immediate Supervisor
The Artistic Director reports to the Board of Directors of the SRCCA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music, Music Education, Choral Conducting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience directing children’s or youth choirs preferred
- Proficiency in piano preferred
- Ability to inspire, engage, and motivate children of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Experience with multicultural and multilingual repertoire
- Familiarity with music education technology and resources
General Responsibilities
- Lead weekly (Monday afternoons from 4-5:30 pm) rehearsals, sectionals, and performances for all levels/choirs within the Academy.
- Average 10 hours per week.
- Select age-appropriate, diverse, and educational repertoire that aligns with the Academy’s artistic vision and performance schedule.
- Provide vocal instruction and exercises to develop healthy singing habits.
- Actively recruit new choristers through community outreach, school visits, auditions, and collaboration with local music educators.
- Work closely with accompanists, other directors, administrative staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Oversee the music theory program assuring an outstanding musical education for each child. The selection of materials is under the supervision of this position. Requirements for each level of theory and the methods by which they are taught are to be supervised by the Artistic Director.
- Plan, supervise, and direct concerts, festivals, tours, and camps.
- Build a sense of community among the children, the parents, and the Board of Directors.
Benefits:
Employee Status: Part-time, exempt
Compensation: Ranges from $15,000 to $18,000 (commensurate with experience)
