Hi All! My name is Eli Willis, and I am a classically-trained violinist with extensive experience as a performer and educator. I received a Masters of Music in Violin Performance from Boston University, studying under Peter Zazofsky. Prior to this, I earned my Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where I studied under Kevork Mardirossian.
I have performed with both the Elmhurst and Southwest Symphonies in Symphonies in Illinois, the Sacremento Philharmonic, as well as the Boston University Orchestra, sitting as concertmaster and other principal positions. Additionally, I have extensive experience as a chamber musician and soloist, having been a finalist in numerous competitions such as the International Artists Competition in Vienna.
Much of my training has consisted of rigorous and consistent practice, with a focus on understanding how to individualize my own playing. Technical exercises, matched with repertoire that pushed my own expectations and level of playing, is what has allowed me to be in the position I am currently. I apply these same practices to my own students, which allows for a fun, challenging, and rewarding environment. All the while, I understand the importance of variance and learning in a way that best encourages the student to move forward and find joy in learning. I am dedicated to ensuring for my students that their training is catered to their own strengths and weaknesses, and thus customizing the practices in meaningful ways.

As an educator, I strive to create a supportive and structured environment that fosters musical growth, artistic expression, and technical excellence. My teaching approach is highly individualized—designed to meet each student’s goals, whether they are beginning their musical journey or preparing for competitive auditions and advanced study. I am passionate about helping students not only develop strong instrumental technique, but also a deeper appreciation for music as a form of communication, discipline, and personal enrichment.
My ultimate goal is to teach the art of violin playing and instill a curiosity in music through the lens of the violin. I can guarantee that by working together, you (or your student) will find an appreciation for music that can be lifelong, while also learning the inner workings and nuances of the violin.
