UC Berkeley’s department of music boasts some of contemporary music’s leading lights with many of its celebrated faculty and alumni having established international careers. Eco Ensemble is the department’s innovative new music group in residence, led by David Milnes. The group’s annual concert this season takes a deep dive into the music of two recent additions to the composition faculty. Matthew Evan Taylor centers the human breath as a primary organizational structure of his music, and Mu-Xuan Lin’s work is influenced by her experience in the visual arts, creative writing, cinema, and theater.
