A contemporary of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, the folksinger, songwriter, and activist became a household name with hit renditions of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and Stephen Sondheim’s “Send In the Clowns.” She has recorded 55 albums and, as a testament to her impact on the music world, artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Dolly Parton, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.
