Earthsongs: FREEDOM & HOPE

Presented by The Choral Project

The Choral Project (TCP) closes its 2025–26 season with Earthsongs: FREEDOM & HOPE, an inspiring concert showcasing themes of freedom, belonging, and collective possibility through music that speaks to this moment.

Dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the concert explores the enduring human longing for a more just and hopeful world. Through a program that moves from reflection to joy, from challenge to affirmation, the concert brings together music that honors resilience, celebrates unity, and invites audiences into a shared experience of connection and renewal.

“This repertoire reminds us that hope is not passive, but something we create together,” said Nada Marriott, board chairperson and soprano with The Choral Project. “Every piece of music in this concert reveals how freedom and hope can be articulated not only as ideals, but as lived artistic experiences shaped through collective creation.”

In addition to Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, René Clausen, and our very own Daniel Hughes, the concert also features a world premiere, including the first-place winning work from The Choral Project’s 2025–26 Rachel Moore Choral Student Composition Contest, “Sing Me the Universal” by Scott Eastman Andrews, spotlighting the next generation of choral composers and The Choral Project’s commitment to championing new music.

“Winning this competition is an immense honor and a profound affirmation of my aspirations and personal musical ideology,” notes Scott. “I consider each composition to be a small portrait of my inner world, and I am beyond thrilled that my work has been received so positively.”

Under the artistic leadership of founder and music director Daniel Hughes, TCP continues its mission to transform and heal through music and words, pairing artistic excellence with social awareness and meaningful community engagement. Audiences can expect an evening of powerful storytelling, soaring artistry, and music that resonates long after the final note.

Whether drawn by contemporary choral innovation, timely themes of justice and inclusion, or the joy of live performance, concertgoers will experience a season finale both deeply moving and profoundly uplifting.
