Del Sol Quartet on Angel Island: Foreigners to the Familiar - Exploring the Filipino Experience

A concert by the Del Sol String Quartet in partnership with Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation.

"Rarely does chamber music feel as cutting-edge and necessary as Del Sol’s. It was well worth the ferry trip to be transported to even more distant musical shores."  - Jens Ibsen - SFCV

What’s it like to shine day-glo bright as a poison frog, your colors a warning to potential predators? Dante de Silva’s “Aposematic” recreates the pressure of difference and the struggle to maintain individuality. Josiah Catalan’s “Foreigners to the Familiar” interweaves slam poetry by Irene Faye Duller, Brandon Gagante and Mei Chung. Join us for two world premieres as we bring California community voices to life within the historic detention barracks of Angel Island Immigration Station!

The event is free with admission to the Detention Barracks Museum ($5 adult, $3 youth). Click here to register.

This involves a fun ferry ride!*** Please check ferry for most up-to-date times.

We suggest you visit AIISF’s website to plan your visit.  You take a ferry from Tiburon or San Francisco. Then you bike, walk, or tram to the immigration station. The show times are arranged to accommodate the ferry schedules.
