Breaking up is hard to do. Sometimes, it's impossible.
SAN ANSELMO — Echo Chamber Orchestra takes a gentle poke at Valentine's Day with "The Grand Divorce" on Saturday, February 14, at the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo.
Starting with the "Marriage of Figaro" overture, the orchestra will "split up" and perform music by Gabrieli, Strauss, Canosa and Dvorak – highlighting the brass, woodwind, percussion and string sections. The full ensemble will regroup to play a brand-new work, Rorqual (Reconciliation) by Marin composer Kevin Gordon. Daniel Canosa, the orchestra's co-founder and music director, will conduct.
The concert begins at 7:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo, followed by a wine and cheese reception. Admission is $25. Tickets are available online and at the door after 7:00 PM.
