Movie with Live Orchestra – The Lost World

Presented by Grand Arts Consortium

Professor Challenger believes that dinosaurs still exist in the remote regions of South America. When his colleagues and students mock him, he proposes that a team be assembled to travel to the Amazon rainforest to see for themselves. Professor Challenger and a small group, including scientists and a reporter, set sail for the forbidden territory, not knowing the adventure that awaits!

So begins the story in this 1925 silent action film on the cutting edge of groundbreaking special effects by the Oscar-winning master action guru Willis O’Brien, who later created classics like KING KONG. Using brilliant stop-action photography, stunning practical sets, and camera work, O’Brien achieved a feat in special effects technology that later inspired such movies as JURASSIC PARK. It was said that during the 1925 premiere, many members of the audience left the theater believing that the dinosaurs shown in the movie were real!

A movie such as this deserves special music and sound design. THE GRAND FEATURE FILM ORCHESTRA will perform special music sequences and orchestrate works inspired by great classics, such as THE RITE OF SPRING, THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, FIREBIRD, and THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY -- perfectly timed to the massive cinematic action.

Critics agree: This is a movie to see!

“As soon as the thrilling sequences are reached, where the explorers are seen in the supposed habitat of the living dinosauri, brontosauri, allosauri, and other prehistoric monsters, there is no end of excitement.”
