Requiem Mass for All Souls’ Day
Saturday, November 1 • 6:30 pm
With Baroque orchestra and St. Paul’s Choir, directed by Benjamin Bachmann
The Rev. Dr. Mauricio J. Wilson, Rector
Everyone is welcome! Tickets are NOT required to attend.
Please join us for our annual Requiem mass as we gather to remember our beloved dead. In a space aglow with candlelight, the timeless music of Purcell and Croft carries us through grief and gratitude, sorrow and hope.
Featured will be Funeral Sentences by Henry Purcell—including the timeless “Thou knowest, Lord”—and William Croft’s Burial Sentences, music that has echoed through the centuries, including the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. These powerful works, rich in beauty and reverence, lift our hearts toward divine mercy and invite us into prayerful reflection and joyful remembrance.
Candles will illuminate the church, with votive candles available to light. Submit names of loved ones for the service sheet by October 27 via the offering plate, email admin@stpaulsoakland.org, or by phone at 510-834-4314.
This in-person event will be held at the historic and classically beautiful St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at 114 Montecito Avenue, Oakland, CA.
