A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness Kathakali at its highest level.

Kalyana Sougandhikam was written by Kottayath Thamburan based on events in the Mahābhārata during the Pandavas’ vanavasa ( exile in the forest ) at Kamyaka Forest. While staying near the Gandhamadana Mountains, Draupadi sees a rare Sougandhika flower and asks Bhima to find more. Determined to fulfill her wish, Bhima sets out through the forest, using his great strength to push through obstacles until he reaches the Kadali forest. There, his loud journey disturbs Hanuman, who is meditating. Realizing it’s his younger brother, Hanuman decides to teach Bhima a lesson in humility by posing as a weak old monkey blocking the path. Bhima, unable to move the monkey’s tail, realizes the truth. Hanuman then reveals his identity, blesses Bhima, and guides him to the flower, after which Bhima resumes his journey.
