
Noontime Concerts announces outstanding concert schedule for August 2025
Concerts take place weekly on Tuesdays at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral, 660 California St., (& Grant) – 12:30 – 1:30. All are welcome to attend. AUGUST 5th – Jon Lee, piano - Known for his dynamic and expressive playing, pianist Jon Lee has performed as soloist and chamber musician across North America and Europe. As a soloist, Jon has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony, Boston Pops Orchestra, and Utah Symphony.
AUGUST 12th – Anne Rainwater, piano - Concert pianist Anne Rainwater is a dexterous musician known for her vibrant interpretations of works from J.S. Bach to John Zorn. Recognized for her “boldly assertive rhetoric” (San Francisco Examiner) and “sensitivity to performance and interpretation” (TEMPO Magazine), she engages audiences as a soloist, chamber musician, and lecture artist around the country.
AUGUST 19th – Ethea Trio -- Formed through a shared passion for chamber music, Ethea Trio unites the dynamic artistry of violinist Shintaro Taneda, cellist Ayoun Alexandra Kim, and pianist Jon Lee. The ensemble takes its name from the Greek root ethos, reflecting their belief in music as a powerful expression of character, spirit, and community.
AUGUST 26th -- San Francisco International Piano Festival – Featuring a range of wonderful artists in a program focusing on Ravel’s poignant evocation of times past. The world of Ravel’s imagination is inextricably linked with childhood and nostalgia, and nowhere is this more touchingly evidenced than in his Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose). Selections from Ravel’s Trio (1914) will also be featured, along with rarely heard solo piano gems.
