Brahms "5th"

Presented by Redwood Symphony

As part of a season devoted to musical adventure. Maestro Eric Kujawsky continues to open our ears and minds to works that may not be familiar but often prove to be the most surprising and rewarding discoveries.  ‘

Our concert opens with Kauyumari, a vibrant work by three-time Grammy-Award winning composer Gabriela Ortiz, whose bold, rhythmically charged style has made her one of the most sought-after voices on the international stage.

The harp is an enchanting instrument - don’t miss acclaimed harpist Anna Maria Mendieta in one of the most show-stopping works in the harp repertoire from Argentinian master Alberto Ginastera. Johannes Brahms himself considered his late string quintet (OP.111) to be an embryonic Fifth Symphony. Hear all the beauty of Brahms in Peter Klatzow’s stunning orchestration.
