Mercurial, moody, and surprising, this free concert includes a "light-hearted" Beethoven duet with an almost-whimsical key-change finale, a cello sonata of “expressive tenderness and intensity” with “terrifyingly difficult” piano passages, a concise quartet that’s a masterwork of Romanticism, and finally a sublime song of longing from a Dvořák opera. Come early so you don’t miss a note!
This program celebrates the post-Classical Romantic movement with works of both passion and precision by the most beloved composers of the era, if not all time. Our very own mezzo soprano Heather Garland will join for Dvorak’s Song to the Moon, along with Tyson Mao on violin, Jessica Chang, on viola, Summer Hu on cello and Christine McLeavey on piano.
