Tactus SF: A Renaissance Christmas

Presented by Tactus SF

Tactus SF's Tenth Anniversary season opens with "A Renaissance Christmas," featuring three works that celebrate the mystery and joy of the season. "Beata Viscera," composed by the great 12th-century musician Pérotin, is a moving meditation on the Christmas miracle. Orlando di Lasso's innovative "Prophetiae Sibyllarum" features expressive sacred madrigals in the voices of the classical Sibyls—oracles who were thought to have foreseen the birth of Jesus. The concerts will end with Michael Praetorius' festive cantata "Vom Himmel Hoch," a dazzling double-choir setting of Martin Luther's familiar Christmas hymn, "From heaven above to earth I come." A reception will follow the concert.
