Greetings Opera Cocktales Fans, Friends and Family!
Portals, the entryway to other worlds, whether entered via doors, windows or whirling lights, humans long to enter and experience the places of mind or heart that we have yet to know through these unexpected but much desired gateways. Here at Opera Cocktales, we find those places through music and words melded in unexpectedly meaningful ways as channeled through our voices - Yes, you guessed it, it's Opera portals for us!!!
For those of us on stage, (or, in our case, the spot-lighted front of the piano bar) exploring a musical character is an act of discovery - transporting us to other places, other situations, other realms. We enter in through the portal of music, guided by the composer and librettist to create a space filled with light and sound bent through our voices transforming into an aria, a duet, a scene, a performance.
This months Opera Cocktales shows us the many musical realms entered through our favorite vocal works by Kurt Weill, Nin-Culmell, Verdi and Puccini.
