The Yale Whiffenpoofs are America’s oldest collegiate a cappella group. This October, they will be on tour in California, and their San Francisco performance will be opened by the San Francisco Youth Chorus. SFYC singers are thrilled to be sharing the stage with the legendary Whiffenpoofs.
The Whiffenpoofs of 2026 are so excited to be returning to the beautiful Grace Cathedral in San Francisco! Since their founding in 1909, the Whiffenpoofs have brought their diverse repertoire of vocal jazz, folk, pop, and Broadway hits to more than two hundred audiences each year across all 6 inhabited continents. In past years, the ‘Whiffs’ have sung for Presidents Obama, Bush (41 and 43), Clinton, and Reagan, and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. They've even been featured on television shows such as “The Sing Off,” “The West Wing,” and “Glee.”
One of the most important messages the Whiffenpoofs spread as they tour the world each year, is that music can provide extraordinary opportunities to young people. We hope this event inspires the members of SFYC to continue investing in their passion for music.
