Come sing with Pacific Edge Voices (PEV)!
You like to sing Bach and Handel and live for a big group melisma. But you also love to float in the lush harmonic pool that is Lauridsen or Whitacre. Oh, but minor seconds are fun, too, like smooth Gene Puerling arrangements or beat-boxing Pentatonix tunes. But really, at the end of the day, what you are belting in your car is Lizzo and Hamilton. For you, music is music is music is music — especially when done well with a great community of committed amateur singers.
If musical variety is your jam, then PEV may be your next musical home! We select soloists for both classical and contemporary a cappella works from within the group, so both choral and solo voices are welcome.
PEV auditions for the 2025-26 season will take place in person on Sunday, August 17, 4–8pm in downtown Berkeley.
Special call for tenors! Auditionees should prepare for the following:
1) Sing one prepared solo piece, a cappella (without piano accompaniment). Your selection should be no more than two minutes long and can be a segment of a larger piece. The piece should demonstrate your range and vocal abilities, and can be of any musical genre you choose.
2) Sight singing: We will ask you to complete short sight-reading and rhythmic exercises.
3) Share what interests you about PEV, your personal musical journey and your vocal goals for joining the group.
Interested? Complete this online form, and we will contact you via email to schedule your audition. (Not quite sure? Have a date conflict? Fill it out anyway, and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.)
