Teaching Method:
I am trained in and teach beginners with the Suzuki Method. The method is centered around the idea that every child can learn to play a musical instrument in a similar process to acquiring their first language. With this ideology, students can start learning at a very young age with the guidance of their parent and teacher. Students attend weekly lessons and regular group classes with their parents, and at home practice sessions are guided by the parents. The Suzuki method creates a community with the other young musicians learning the same shared repertoire and opportunities for students to play together. In lessons, I emphasize learning being a joyful experience and prioritize giving low stakes performance opportunities.
Every lesson we will work on fundamental cello technique, learning new repertoire, and review of previous repertoire. It is a great privilege for a child to have private music lessons, I feel so lucky to get to know so many wonderful kids and watch them grow into new understandings of life and music.
