Born in Puerto Rico, grammy award-winner David Sánchez is recognized around the world as one of the finest saxophonists of his generation. His mastery of the instrument is undeniable and his sound unmistakable. Combine that with Sánchez's deep-seated knowledge of both Jazz and Latin music, and the traditions that mold them, and the results are extraordinary. His several recordings have earned him at least 6 grammy nominations and his recording, Coral, earned him a Latin grammy award for Best Instrumental Album. He was a member of the “Ninety Miles Band” including Stefon Harris and Christian Scott which emerged from the Ninety Miles Project a highly regarded album and documentary film recorded in Havana. He is a member of the SF Jazz Collective and has also performed and recorded with Kenny Barron, Roy Haynes, Charlie Haden, Roy Hargrove, Pat Metheny, Tom Harrell, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Elvin Jones and countless others.
