Music lovers of ages are invited to join the Diablo Symphony for a festive concert featuring an array of light-filled music celebrating the holiday season. The Blackhawk Chorus, directed by Ken Abrams, and rising-star violinist Simon Hagopian join the orchestra in a festive program that includes such favorites as "Fantasia on Greensleeves" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the French carol "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Eight Days of Light" by Judith Clurman, the "Blue Danube Waltz" by Johann Strauss II, and "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson. The orchestra and Hagopian join forces for "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Beethoven's expressive "Romance in F," and various works for choir and orchestra range from "O Holy Night" and Handel's "And the Glory of the Lord" to "Silver Bells" and Jerry Herman's Broadway tune "We Need a Little Christmas." This joyful tribute to the holidays promises an afternoon of uplifting music for individuals and families alike. Tickets can be purchased through the Diablo Symphony's website, at the Lesher Center of the Arts box office (925-943-7469), or at the door.
