Bass-baritone David Martin, accompanied on piano by Robert Finucane, will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel, a song cycle based on the poems of Robert Louis Stevenson. The songs tell the story of the life of a traveler, from bold young man through the arc of his life of adventure to his final days contemplating the tender moments of life.
Soprano Bita Nejat, accompanied on piano by Von Bringhurst, will perform a selection of opera, theater, folk and art songs centered around themes of love, loss, separation, friendship and the beauty of life as we travel through it. We will envision a traveler leaving her homeland to experience love, loss, fears, and peace.
