Dance Thrill Fest is an annual dance film festival, and this year's event will include a dozen newly commissioned shorts celebrating the many spirits of Halloween, from horror to farce. This year the festival is presented in partnership with the Roxie Theater and co-produced by the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
Participating Bay Area artists include Babatunji Johnson and Charmaine Butcher; Bianca Cabrera; Brandon Graham; Clare Schweitzer; gizeh muniz and Teaque Owen; Helen Wicks; Kira Fargas; Maya Mohsin; Ki'Shae Qetlah; Rebecca Fitton and Noah Laroia-Nguyen; and Jocelyn Reyes, founder of REYES Dance and the creator of Dance Thrill Fest. One additional artist will be a surprise.
"Originating in 2021 during the pandemic, Dance Thrill Fest was designed to bring communities together at a time when we were required to socially distance," said Reyes. "Halloween themes provided relief from real-world fears. It gives us a thrill to continue the project even as pandemic restrictions have fallen away."
Audiences, age 18 and up, are invited to attend in costume, and the price of admission includes a goody bag of treats.
$18 - $70.
