Dance Film SF, in partnership with Prix de Lausanne and San Francisco Ballet School, is proud to present a special screening of The Prix, a feature-length documentary offering rare, behind-the-scenes access to the prestigious Prix de Lausanne.
The film follows four teenage dancers—Romina, Julien, Abril, and Darrion—who have traveled from around the globe to compete in this renowned ballet competition, widely regarded as a launching pad to the world’s top dance schools. As they stand on the brink of a life-changing opportunity, The Prix captures both the intensity of the moment and the years of dedication and sacrifice that brought them there, weaving in archival footage to celebrate the competition’s 50th anniversary in 2022-23.
The event will feature opening remarks by Prix de Lausanne President, Olivier Glauser. Following the screening, stay for an engaging Q&A with Prix de Lausanne Director Kathryn Bradney, 2026 Prix Winner Milo Demeulenaere (City Ballet San Francisco), 2026 Prix Young Creation Award choreographer Isabella Howard (San Francisco Ballet School), and 2024 Prix Winner Crystal Huang (San Francisco Ballet School), moderated by San Francisco Ballet Principal Dancer and Prix Finalist Frances Chung. The evening will conclude with a post-screening reception, open to all ticketholders.
