Opening Gala

Presented by San Francisco Symphony

Join us for a spectacular evening to celebrate the start of the 2025–26 season! Superstar pianist Yuja Wang takes the stage with conductor Jaap van Zweden and the San Francisco Symphony in a special program featuring Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s electrifying Piano Concerto No. 1, John Adams’s thrilling Short Ride in a Fast Machine, and Ottorino Respighi’s majestic Pines of Rome.

Celebrated for her charismatic artistry, emotional honesty, and captivating stage presence, Yuja Wang has been a San Francisco Symphony favorite since her 2006 debut. The Opening Gala concert is one of three programs Jaap van Zweden—currently music director of the Seoul Philharmonic and former music director of the New York Philharmonic—conducts with the San Francisco Symphony in 2025–26.

Concert-only guests (21+) are invited to a complimentary preconcert reception featuring a celebratory toast, light bites, and entertainment in the Orchestra and First Tier lobbies from 5:30–6:30pm.

Alcohol service for concert-only guests will conclude promptly at 6:30pm.

Underage concert-only guests are welcome to attend the Gala concert. Entry to Davies Symphony Hall will begin at 6:30pm, once alcohol service has ended.
