Choral Evensong honors Feast Day of Thurgood Marshall May 17

Presented by St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Healdsburg

Not everyone knows that the Episcopal Church named Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, a saint. His feast day is celebrated on May 17, the anniversary of the milestone 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education. At that time Marshall was the chief legal counsel for the  NAACP; he successfully argued that segregation in schools was unconstitutional. To honor Marshall, St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Healdsburg presents a Choral Evensong on Sunday, May 17. Director of Music Paul Blanchard will perform on the church's Bigelow pipe organ, accompanying the St. Paul's choir and cantor in several beautiful musical selections.

Admission to the 5 p.m. concert is free. Donations to the church's outreach ministries will be gratefully accepted. Those who cannot attend in person are invited to watch the concert online at www.stpauls-healdsburg.org/sunday_organ_series. The church is located at the corner of East and Matheson Streets, one block east of Healdsburg's downtown Plaza.
